Just recently, some of our students
together with their teachers went to the “Surfing Capital of the Philippines,”
-Baler. It is located 231 kilometers north-east of Manila. This surfers’
paradise is also said to be one of the hidden gems of Luzon for its waves that
can reach up to 2.7meters (9 feet) tall. But, Baler has more to offer than just
surfing - there is history in every corner and other places to explore.
Here are the top 3 things we can do in Baler:
1. Ride the waves at Sabang Beach If you have no experience about surfing,
there will be some skilled surfing instructors to teach you.
2. Adventure at Caunayan Falls If you get tired of the sand and the sea, go
for the cool, shallow, pristine clear, and fresh spring water from the
mountains at Caunayan Falls. It only takes 3 to 5minutes of trekking from the
entrance of the falls.
3. Oddity of Nature: visit the 600-year old
Balete Tree It reaches up to 200 feet (61m), and its
diameter is measured by 50 people circling the tree, hand in hand.
The Baler trip usually starts with a
5-hour-ride directly to Sabang beach. You can immediately ride the waves if you
want to or take some surfing lessons with the skilled coaches. After that, you
can go for an adventure at the Caunayan Falls. Take promising photos
with nature and witness how cool and clear the water is. The water current may
be strong on a bad weather, so to avoid any danger, make sure you select a
perfect weather for the trip. The last stop would be at the Balete Tree where you
can take remarkable photos with your friends.
Here’s
